so i’ve had this album for awhile, because i’m a good KOL fangirl. they signed them to their serpents and snakes imprint, and i scooped it up on faith. and as often happens when i do that, the album just sort of sat in my itunes. unheard. i always seemed to have other things i’d rather try out. then one day in december i put it on because as we all know, december is like the worst month for new music. and i was immediately pissed that it had taken me this long to listen to this album all the way through. this song in particular encompasses everything there is too love about rock music made in the south(and it is a rocker). it’s catchy and groovy. moody and gothic. powerful and vulnerable. the lyrics are pretty but clever. and his voice. it’s perfectly unhinged. that’s the only way to describe it. give this a listen and you’ll understand what i mean. all this coupled with the fact that they’re technically great musicians(their drummer is a beast)? pretty outstanding stuff. i came into the features’ music as a KOL fan. but i’m staying because i’m a hardcore features fan.

one of those bands i take for so much granted. i always forget how incredible and influential they were and are. been listening to their greatest hits this afternoon(great place to start for an intro to them). and i can hear elements of todays pop/rock music in every single song. but they came first. soooooo…..basically they’re amaze-balls. ifyadidn’tknownaowyaknow.
dedicated to all the hipster homies.

what is it about rainy days that makes me wanna listen to some oldies? especially love-sick ballads? in any case, this song is a beautiful rainy day song by the greatest male vocalist ever, in my opinion. if you have some alcohol or tea handy, that’ll help complete the mood.

back when i bought this album, the lady at the check out counter asked me if i’d heard it yet. i said no. she said, “well then just know, it’s fucking magical”. and to this day, it’s the only word i can think to describe it. this song encapsulates that so perfectly. it’s just magical. and absolutely beautiful. this man is single handedly redefining what electronic-based music can sound like. it can be honest and emotional and pretty, and this album(and song) just showcases that. and honestly, not to sound crass, but this song should be on your sex playlist(not the hook-up one, the lovemaking one). you’ll feel like you’re in a movie love scene. with ryan gosling. …don’t tell your guy that last part.
